The state is home to a wide variety of traditional musical instruments, each with its own unique sound and cultural significance. These instruments play an important role in the local culture, and are used in festivals, religious ceremonies, and other cultural events.

Some of the popular musical instruments of Uttarakhand: Dhol, Damau, Dholki, Thali, Turri, Ransingha, Daur, Bhankora, Masakbhaja, Damama, Hurka, Binaee, Mushak Been or Bagpipe, and Muruli.

The instruments are made from a variety of materials such as wood, bamboo, brass, animal skin, and metal. Some instruments are handmade, while others are made in small workshops using tools such as saws, drills, and lathes. The craftsmen who make these instruments have a deep understanding of the materials and techniques required to produce high-quality instruments.
