Spinning is the process of creating yarn or thread from fibre materials. Materials such as cotton, wool, flax, silk, and other natural and synthetic fibres are drawn and twisted together to form yarn or thread suitable for processes such as weaving, knitting, sewing, embroidery and rope making.  Traditionally spinning was done using different types of spindles such as the charkha.
