From 1982 Monira Emdad has been working with the weavers of Tangail to revive these renowned saris. Her interest extended to the other handloom centres of the country like Pabna, Sirajganj, etc where she revived the traditional designs and also introduced new combinations and techniques to respond to contemporary tastes. She has also been involved with the promotion of Jamdanis.

Today Monira works with 20,000 weavers across Bangladesh and some 2,000 women who embroider and print for her shop in Dhaka. Many entrepreneurs have followed her successful efforts in establishing handloom saris in Bangladesh.

Monira has won many awards for her contribution to the development of handlooms in Bangladesh.
