Nagenahiru Foundation was founded in the year 1990 and is located at Ambalangoda which is not very far from Colombo. This organisation helps in promoting rural income by producing environmentally friendly craft and home products through the participatory approach. Some of the products made at Nagenahiru are house-hold utilities and craft items from reed, coconut-shell and hand-made lace. It is a community-based organisation that has participated in exhibitions and trade fairs throughout Sri Lanka. Geographically the activities of the organisation are spread all over the south western coastal district of Galle. Mr. Lal Emmanuel is the key person to be contacted at Nagenahiru Foundation. The organisation has on its rolls permanent staff of 5 and temporary staff of 12.
