CORR – The Jute Works was established in 1973 by Caritas Bangladesh as an economic development project with the objective of providing jobs for the poor, rural women. Presently, The Jute Works is providing job opportunities for over 7000 village women in 16 districts of Bangladesh. Export of their high quality products gives these women pride in their crafts and the chance to work in a co-operative-like village group, a better position in the home and society, a new awareness of the outside world and above all, a means of survival during difficult times.
The Jute Works exists as a self-supporting, self reliant, non-profit charitable organization for the benefit of rural women who make handicrafts to supplement the family income for better living conditions.
