Aarong – the marketing outlet set up by BRAC – means a village fair; and the organization symbolizes fairness in the global village where each one is dependent on the other. Aarong was established for the underprivileged artisans and it helps them help themselves, restoring pride, reviving Bangladesh’s traditional arts and crafts, and in the process contributing greatly to BRAC’s goal of poverty alleviation and empowerment of the poor. There are seven Aarong outlets in Bangladesh. Aarong currently provides services to more than 30,000 disadvantaged artisans, 85% of whom are women.

Over the years, Aarong has earned a name for itself as one of the finest rural crafts producers and marketers in Bangladesh.
