The China National Silk Museum was opened in 1992 in the city of Hangzhou (Zhejiang Province), China. It has eight permanent galleries, or halls, that cover all aspects of the history of silk production and trade in China.

The Dyeing and Weaving Hall in the museum includes working models, and some originals, of silk reels and looms from all over China. On display in the Relics Hall are stunning examples of silk textiles, including imperial dragon robes and a 5,600 year-old brocade fragment, the oldest silk textile yet discovered. Regular exhibitions on new archaeological finds or the latest advancements in silk research are organized, in addition to international symposiums. The Museum has a state-of-the art conservation and research department. Text boards are in Chinese and English and admission is free.
