Shabir is a social entrepreneur and inventor who belongs to an agriculture based family and community in the violence torn district of Baramullah. He was one of the first grantees of the C toK Grants program in the year 2013-14.
Shabir has developed a path-breaking stackable and portable loom, improved tools, and Training Centre with assistance from the first CtoK grant. The new loom has given employment to women who were traditionally kept away from the weaving process and in fact has increased income levels of the women from Rs 500 to Rs 1500 in a span of 6 months. Shabir had successfully trained 16 women in the first grant project. Through the Training cum Production Centre set up with the CtoK grant, Shabir was able to develop and sell 40 paldar shawls to the local market
