AN INITIATIVE OF CRAFT REVIVAL TRUST.  Since 1999

Rice straw painting is a centuries-old art form that emerged in Kerala. The craft entails making sculptures out of various shades of rice straw. Each painting is made up of many pieces of rice straw that have been carefully cut and glued onto a black cotton cloth. All of the ingredients used in this painting are found in nature, such as leaves, glue made from tree sap, paper, and so on. Rice straws are also used to make a variety of handicrafts, including rice straw mats, hats, handbags, wall decorations, sculptures, and brooms.
