The state has vast deposits of granite and the abundance ensures the craft to thrive till date. Extensively a temple based industry; Krishnashila is the most common material for stone idol carving. Different production clusters are located in Kurnool, Guntur and Warangal districts. Other than idols, pillar carving is also incorporated in the temples around the city.
