Then, with the popularity of silk, Jamdani silk weaving started to take place. Earlier, shuttle pit loom was used to weave silk sarees, but now power loom has made its niche. It is woven in pure silk, or with blend of silk with cotton, gold zari, metal yarn, etc. A variety of motifs are created in jamdani, namely Chameli (jasmine), Genda (marigold flower), Pan (betel leaf),etc.
