Bead embroidery is one of the most well-known type of embroidery in Andhra Pradesh. This embroidery is achieved on fabrics to enhance the appearance of garments and clothing by using vivid and colourful beads. Traditionally, precious and semi-precious stones were used to beautify the garments of kings and queens. Bead embroidery is most commonly seen on fine saris and blouse sets, salwar kameez, and other products. Andhra Pradesh’s Jangaon is well known for its bead embroidery work. The bead embroidery covers the entire base material. Floral patterns, abstract patterns, and other exquisite compositions are used in the embroidery.

Andhra Pradesh embroidery includes Banjara embroidery, which is distinguished by the exclusive use of cowry shells, coins, cotton and woollen tassels leaden with lead, glass beads, and mirror. Andhra Pradesh’s Banjara women dress in ghagras, cholis, and odhnis embellished with bright appliqué and mirror work. Jalgaon, an Andhra Pradesh village, creates beautiful work consisting of squares and rectangles of cross and stems stitch. These embroidery works are distinguishable for their earthly tones.
