Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, is well known for its cane and bamboo work. Cane and bamboo are the most widely used materials for making furniture and household items that are essential for everyday life. The furniture frame is made from thick bamboo by heating, bending, and joining. Finally, the frame is rounded with thin processed cane known as ‘Gola.’ This practice dates back nearly 50 years.
